The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation has designated $2.4 million in 44 grants for 2007-08 scholarships and fellowships. These awards bring the Foundation’s cumulative grants since 1981 to a total of almost $45.9 million. In the past 26 years, more than 31,250 Newcombe Scholarships have been awarded through annual grants to 92 universities and colleges, and over 1,000 Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships have been awarded through annual grants to the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. Included in the Foundation’s awards this year are 44 endowment challenges, totaling $650,000, which should result in the addition of almost $1.4 million to the 52 established Newcombe funds. At last report, the Newcombe Endowment Funds had a combined market value of $10.2 million.
