Dr. Jens Mueller is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies in the School of Arts, Sciences & Business, and the Director of International Studies at Notre Dame of Maryland University, where he also teaches in the Elizabeth Morrissy Honors Program. He earned his Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Dayton.

Dr. Mueller’s research explores the intersections of Catholic social teaching, lay theologies, and contemporary social justice issues within American Catholicism. His peer-reviewed scholarship appears in prominent publications such as the Journal of Moral Theology, Journal of Catholic Social Thought, and U.S. Catholic Historian. A recipient of the 2022 Outstanding Research Award from the University of Dayton, he frequently presents his insights at national conferences.
