Michelle Anderson, JD

Michelle J. Anderson has been President of Brooklyn College for ten years. Under her leadership, the College launched the Tow Mentoring Initiative, the Center for Cancer Research, and the Science and Resilience Institute at Jamaica Bay. It also obtained top national rankings for academic excellence, economic mobility, student body diversity, and return on investment.

Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was notes editor of the Yale Law Journal. After law school, she clerked on the Ninth Circuit for Judge William Norris.

Prior to her presidency, Anderson served as Dean of CUNY School of Law, Professor at Villanova University School of Law, and Visiting Professor at Georgetown University Law Center and Yale Law School. Anderson is a leading scholar in the law of rape and sexual assault and the recipient of numerous honors, including the Champion of Justice Award from Brooklyn Legal Services.
