Breakout Session Topic: Serving Those Who Serve
Nicole DeRamus oversees the Veterans Certification Office, the Veterans Initiatives and Outreach Office, and the assigned Veterans Affairs Vet Success on Campus (VSOC) counselors, assisting military and veteran-affiliated students in achieving their educational goals. She serves on the National Association of Veterans Program Administrators (NAVPA) as a Region II delegate and the Maryland Calvert County Veterans Affairs Commission as an ex-officio member. Prior to coming to UMGC, she attained the rank of Navy Captain (O-6, Retired) and served 27 years in the United States Navy as a Human Resources Officer, with tours and experience in technical training, graduate education, joint professional military education and requirements, executive education, and military accessions. She holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University, a MS degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a PhD in Education from Capella University.
